Lower... lower... THAT'S THE SPOT!

According to the American Pregnancy Association, "Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health." (link)

According to me? It's a must. Lately I've had RLP or Round Ligament Pain. Basically "The round ligament supports the uterus and stretches during pregnancy. It connects the front portion of the uterus to the groin. These ligaments contract and relax like muscles, but much more slowly. Any movement (including going from a sitting position to standing position quickly, laughing, or coughing) that stretches these ligaments, by making the ligaments contract quickly, can cause a woman to experience pain. Round ligament pain should only last for a few seconds." (link)

What this means for me is that I've been pretty uncomfortable the past week or so. My legs hurt, like the bones are stretched out, my belly area feels like someone punched me and my lower back is starting to feel the stress of my changing walking/sitting/sleeping patterns.

I decided to schedule a pregnancy/prenatal massage. IT WAS AMAZEBALLS! Have you ever done one? What is your favorite type of massage?

I laugh with utter sympathy, because I've been feeling the pain myself too these days. Haven't gone for a massage yet, but trips to the chiropractor are much more in my budget, not to mention all the stretches & exercises I actually just blogged about the other day. Starting to feel MUCH better, & hope you do too!
